The Chaos of Perfection - Shake Rag Alley, Mineral Point

  • Shake Rag Alley 18 Shake Rag Alley Mineral Point, WI usa (map)

Create a running-stitch journal! We use improvisation and raw edge hand-stitching with a variety of threads to make a product that is true to the maker’s style, and compliments sustainable living. This workshop aligns with the Japanese philosophies of wabi-sabi and Mottainai: embracing the idea that perfection is unattainable, accepting the work that our hands produce, and respecting the life of the materials that we work with. Textures and colors will emerge to inspire makers to take these techniques and apply them to uplift or mend wardrobes and home décor.

During our time together we will use batting as your canvas to explore techniques such as: quilt as you go, raw edge appliqué, foundation piecing, Sashiko stitching and Boro.
