We will use improvisation and running stitches with Japanese yarn and Sashiko thread to create rich textures that pay homage to the recycle and reuse culture. The focus will be on form and texture with an emphasis on improv. It is possible to control the color palette using this technique and I will provide denim scraps to expand your design choices.

Mottainai is a Japanese way of being which means "taking good care of things with respect, making it last long, not wasting and re-appreciating." It is a philosophy that I, as the instructor, deeply embrace.
